Pre-Surgical Management of Cleft Lip and Palate.
Oral clefts represent a challenge to dental cleft team in maintaining cleft lip and palate (CLP) patients with satisfactory functional and esthetical outcomes. Pre-surgical orthopedics (PSO) were part of treatment protocol of CLP patients in many centers , including our cleft clinic, Amiri hospital, Kuwait city, Kuwait. This presentation will discuss prevalence of CLP globally, focusing on incidence in Kuwait (Alhayyan et al, 2013) and associated deformities as well as treatment protocol regard PSO such as, the history, objectives, clinical techniques and cases.
